In another thread someone was shocked that I could say "I'm living good" despite the fact that I will eat cheap junk food once in a while or add flavoring (lemon juice/Crystal Light) to my water.
What are some things that you do that others may think prevent you from living well?
An example may be being perfectly satisfied with your 15 year old car. Some may think you couldn't possible be happy with it as opposed to a brand new car.
I rarely have the need to eat out. I can buy better ingredients and I know no one has dropped my food on the floor or spit in it. I also like the more relaxed atmosphere. I like eating in my pajamas and not having to deal with some annoying waiter.
Car payments (or new car in genral. I drive a 25 year old car that runs and looks great because I maintain it)
New clothles/shoes all the time
Going out to Bars/Clubs (I'm a young adult so most do this every weekend, I may 3-4x a year)

It's not a money saving thing, I just prefer it.
I wish I could adopt this both for healthy lving and my wallet. However if I have any cravings it's always for food I can't make at home.
I have the money to buy new cars and pay cash for them, but I prefer old cars. Cheaper insurance ($120 vs $700), cheaper yearly plates ($30 Vs $300). I just purchased a perfect 2000 Bravada for $5000 and will drive it 10 years. The savings over that time will be over $8000 just for the Bravada Vs new.
My newest car is 9 years old and my oldest is 43 years old and they they all run great.
I don't consider owning an old car to be sacrificing a good living, it's just a common sense thing to do.
I've had friends say I should buy a new BMW or some big truck, but they don't know what to think when I say I truly don't care about having an expensive car. I don't really care how my car looks or if it drives like a sports car. I just don't care.
A smart phone. I have an inexpensive old style cell phone that I add minutes to once per year and keep in my purse in case of emergency. I can't remember the last time I used it.
New cars...we have a 17 year old truck that runs great. Hope to keep it going for years to come. We just have the one vehicle and don't use it that much.
We don't have a garbage disposal...doing fine without one.
