In NYC, landlords are required to give tenants heat until the end of May as per strict temperature guidelines.

We don't use the heat too often during our SoCal winters. We turn it on maybe 5 times per the winter months.

July 2020 was 4 degrees above normal. It's been quite a while since I turned on the heat. One summer, July was 4 degrees below normal. I'm sure I used the heat a lot that July. When your average high is only 82 degrees, a 4 degree drop makes for cool nights.

I turn mine off usually in late April and try not to turn it back on until November.

November can be pretty cool. September nights are getting pretty cold.

Yes, here in upstate NY we have had the heat set for the sunroom/bonus room for nights only. It has lots of 3'x4' single pain windows and we haven't covered with plastic yet.

We've had frost and freeze warning s already.

Very cool weather set in here the third week of August (50&60!!). That normally doesn't start until about now, well after labor day.
Used to be right about labor day, bit with warming it's been extended to this time in September.

I think the heat from the wild fires out west is driving the air up into Canada and that's pushing Canadian cool weather down this way. Just my opinion based on the weather smoke travel maps.

The house doesn't get down to 64° where it's set for now.

It was 34° when I went to work at 4am this morning.

Ugh
