My Family is making fun of me because I told them when I add a NEW BILL to my situation I have to cut back in other areas. What fool would just Add new bills without making some type of finanicial adjustment? So I decided to cut back on these things so the cell bill can fit into the financial equation

I can't believe so many people would rather live beyond their means and be BROKE after they pay their bills. Do you agree if you are broke after paying bills that something needs to be eliminated?

I plan to cut down on cable, get a basic home phone service, cut down on psying for dating sites, and eating out. I believe that is called budgeting-lol

Same here, I havent had a home phone for a few years... pretty excessive for someone to have two phone's. The money I saved with that, paid for my cell , my cell is actually cheaper since I dont pay for any long distance or caller id or anything.. it is part of a basic cell phone price already.

As far as your other cuts... those are good. I still find it hard to understand paying for dating sites.. free up that money for activities you like.. where you will possibly meet someone with the same interests. At least you get to enjoy the activity if you don't Throwing money at a site so you can meet people that may or may not be truthful in their profile seems like gambling and a waste of money to me. But to each their own.

I was going to keep the home phone and just have a one way line with no other features. I'm not ready to get rid of my home just yet.

I still have my home phone because I can't hold long convos on my cell, the reception isn't good in my house. It works, and it's fine for quick calls and such, but if I'm talking to my elderly parents or on a business call I want the landline.

On the other hand, my adult kids have never had a landline in their apartments and probably never will. It's just a matter of what you are used to and what you can put up with I suppose. I'm spoiled and I want both.

Nevermind the budgeting issue, I'm amazed that you've been able to avoid cell phones for this long.

I was taking CNN saving advice about the top 5 ways to save $5000 and not having a cell was number 1 on the list

I just cancelled our cell phones yesterday. It was costing us $70 a month for 2 phones, 500 minutes and no texting, web or any other extras. My home phone costs me $44.99 for 3 calling features (caller id, line backer, and call waiting) and unlimited long distance. Since we averaged under 100 minutes a month on the cell phone it made sense to cut that bill out.

Try consumer cellular. No contracts, low monthly , uses AT&T towers. Got it for my Mom, she loves it. If you stick to a home phone only, make sure you have at least one that isnt cordless ... if the power goes out you are SOL for making calls.
