Does anyone know what this is? I'm in zone 9. It's very invasive, has a soft fern-like leaf (little needles on stems - like an asparagus fern), starts out wispy but quickly forms a thatch-like mound over its older growth and will choke out any other plant near it.

It might be a hardy geranium?

I don't know what it is, but it looks like the stuff that grows on mountains and hills in the South. Any southerners know?

It looks a little bit like Jacob's Ladder but I can't be sure. I find the JL invasive but pretty. It has light lavender flowers that bloom in spring and last several weeks here in mid Maine. Check out a picture of Jacob's Ladder on one of the nursery sites on line. Maybe White Flower Farm in CT would have a picture of it.
