Has anyone tried buying earthworm eggs and did it work? I saw a link for a thousand eggs for $20, but was wondering if I should buy 1000 live ones and dump them on my yard to help aerate.

Also, for those in Houston do you know of any garden places that sell eggs?

Keep your soil covered with mulch and they will come.

Really, if you keep it covered with just about anything organic (leaves, pine straw, etc.), the worms will come and dine and turn the soil into nice, fluffy stuff. The very best thing I've found is leaves mixed with grass clippings....the worms went absolutely wild for that when I put it down!

If you don't want to wait for that go to a bait shop and just buy some adult worms then turn them loose in your yard. You won't get a thousand, but if you stand guard until they're underground you'll have that many eggs pretty quickly.
