Backyard miniature train enthusiasts often have elaborate landscaping and know alot about the best plants for miniature gardens. I went on a tour of "Train Gardens" in Atlanta once, and while I don't give a hoot about trains, I found the landscaping fascinating.

Ohhh cool!

Reminded me of an article I read last month:

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/03/ga...terrarium.html

(Be sure to check out the slideshow)

Looks like terrariums are making a comeback.

Funny you mentioned that - thanks for the link to the article btw - Since I saw the miature gardens I've been thinking of making one in an old fish tank = ) - With a terrarium I'd have to careful what "garden furniture" I selected though, given the mosture thing.

I think this might be fun and something to keep my gardening soul happy during the non outside garden seasons LOL

Miniature Garden Furniture - Miniature Garden Shoppe

Oh boy, this could become a new obsession very easily! I'm already in love with the tiny adirondack chairs and the colorful vintage ones. They are so cute!

My mom made something like that for her friend about 10 years ago. It was really cute and sat on her friends desk at work. That one in the photo is cute!

I did make a little mini terrarium type thing for a friend's kitchen way back - no plants but it was like a little minature "mud room" with rubber boots and a shovel leaning on a chair etc.......

I am SO going to try this out with plants this time........

here's another place with some GREAT ideas for mini gardens

Both places have some incredible stuff. If I didn't already have a winter time hobby I could see getting into this to ward off the winter time blues! These both are so much more interesting/beautiful than just a doll house!
