Hello
Anyone able to identify climbing Star Jasmine? Our landscaper installed some Star Jasmine which he said were the bush variety, not climbing. But here we are three months later and it sure does seem to be throwing out climbing vines.
Im ok with it being St
ar Jasmine, but thought it would be nice to have this confirmed so I can by a trellis or two to put behind the plant and let it climb on the wall.
Thanks!

Your Landscaper is a crook, ignorant or a liar. Maybe a combination of the three. You have Trachelospermum jasminoides common name Star Jasmine. This is a vining type plant that can be used as ground cover or trellised to climb vertically.
Your variety was never meant to be a stand alone plant. It can be done but defeats the purpose of this plant which is to spread. It also wastes alot of time trying to maintaining as a bush.
It is an aggressive, hardy and prolific crawler. Enjoy.

Sounds like I'll be buying a couple of trellises to lean against the wall and let it crawl.
Generally, he has been good, so I will assume a flub on his part.

Seeing as I have this same plant climbing the trellis in our backyard right now - think it will indeed climb. Oh and around our mailbox. DH went a little overboard on it, he likes it!

I've found a similar thing with Moonflowers - apparently there are 2 varieties, one that bushes and one that's a vine.......unfortunately the one I got that stated it was a BUSH variety appears to be growing as a vine LOL
