Thanks. I think every state has Micro climates. Even this small state of CT has so many. It's always fun seeing the differences in such short distances, isn't it?
And always fun to see others at northern more latitudes ahead of me. Usually End of April-Early May we leaf out here. Looks like it might be a normal year maybe late year after a fast start. March really put a freeze on everything.
This is by me yesterday afternoon April 13, 2017
Only the Maples are showing good bud progress.
Cam,
Is it my imagination or are we about 3 weeks ahead of normal? I don't recall seeing this type of progress until around Mother's Day. It also seems like some trees/flowers are budding at the same time as the early risers. I recently moved and last year was the first year in my new yard. I was raking out the beds in late April with little to no growth. This year many plants are popping up and I am struggling to get the mulch down and finish the clean up before everything blooms. The last of the snow melted just a little more than a week ago.

Where did you move from? We are actually a little late this year here. I would say about normal though especially with this recent pattern change to warm.
The Record cold March really stunted everything otherwise it would of been super early like 2012. But usually "leaves" come out end of April-Early May and we don't even have many blooms on many trees yet.
Whats blooming now....
Azaleas
Lilac
Hychinths
Bradford Pear
Swamp Maples
Black Cherry
Some Regular Cherry Trees
Some Magnolias
Couple of photos I took 2 days ago..
Black Cherry on right, notice not many trees with buds opening yet
I moved from Granby in closer to Hartford. I was working the garden the same time last year because this is the week I get off. I was able to walk around with little more than the tulips and crocuses last year. This year it seems everything is coming up and starting to awaken. I need to work quickly laying down mulch and working laying some stone edging before everything is in full bloom.
