I should prob post pics of what im talking about, but if noticed some lettuce leaves have tiny tiny black dots, leaf miner marks and some brown spots. im guessing all from common pest issues. Are these still edible, or would I end up getting some freak infestation if I ate these?
I mean I will try to remove as much as I can but in case if one or 2 slips into my lettuce bar
Nothing that infects a plant will infect you. The risks of lettuce (like the Arizona problem of earlier this year) come from animal waste contaminating irrigation water or water used for processing. I presume you didn't use your cattle herd waste to fertilize?

There's been a lot written about our desire for perfect produce, and how the "ugly" stuff is just as good. IMHO, the only things to be wary of are pesticide residues and fecal contamination from animals. Insects should not be a problem. Say you accidently eat one. You just ate what some cultures consider food, and got some extra protein. There are a few pathogens (i.e. viruses, bacteria and fungi) that infect plants that are also bad for some humans, but they're rare, so I personally don't worry about them.
awesome thank you so much!! ya i just didnt want to get a frea parasitic infection haha. since my soil and gardening skills is still developing, parasites was a little abundant in my green house. not terribly bad, but you can see some black tiny specs and stuff inside the leaf. im guessing that eggs or whatever.
Just wash the individual lettuce leaves under cold running water before prepping them to eat. Rub the surfaces of them gently all over with your thumb while rinsing and that will remove any loose dirt, insect eggs, tiny insects or black specks (insect poop) on the surface. Nice and clean and you're good to go. Don't worry about the little brown spots, those are just blemishes or freckles on the leaf and won't hurt you.
