Norcross festival to feature first 5K

Mark your calendars if you live in metro ATL and are passionate about strawberries.

The stores are 'past' the season--strawberries grown elsewhere and transported at great expense to the South, the supplies are declining.

According to the resident expert--'they have no taste or flavor, not worth the $ to purchase.'

The same opinion is given about tomatoes and corn. fwiw.

Since transportation is one of my jobs--I am not enthused about pursuing the perfect 'fruit/vegetable' within 30 miles of my home.

Chances are good that if you are a strawberry fanatic, you can get some 'great strawberries' at this event. If they aren't 'the greatest, ever'--then go back to the grocery store and go frozen.

I think melons are actually the next group to be scrutinized. Then blueberries?
then tomatoes, corn and beans. By August---hmmm--the total lack of any vegetable or fruit available for purchase that would be worth eating. Mid September---green peanuts. Fingers crossed this will be a good year.
How about apples--have the growing conditions been favorable to apples in the SE? I certainly hope so.
