My first year trying out a garden.

I had a bunch of sucessful starter plants. I put them in the ground 3 days ago, and now they are all dead.

I watered about 30 min (light sprinkler) twice a day used miracle grow garden soil mixed in with my foot-deep turned earth.

It's just really disappointing to lose all my plants after all that hard work of turning the rocky soil

Can't see super well this morning so I can't tell what the plants really look like. Normal things are not enough water, temps too cold or too hot with not enough water again. Do they get a lot /little sun? What were the plant symptoms before they all died?

I am so sorry that happened. Did you harden off your plants before you planted them outside?

Hardening Off Seedlings

I hope you can figure it out. You still have time to plant.

Those dead plants look very leggy. That usually means they were crowded as starts, left too long like that, and won't stand the shock of transplanting. Don't go for the biggest starters, go for the ones that look stocky and healthy. When planting, leave the roots as much alone as possible.

I had quite a few leggy tomato plants because we had such late cold weather. If you have leggy tomato plants you can plant most of the stem underground. I have a square foot garden so I planted my tomato stems sideways. I think only about 3 of my 20 tomato plants won't make it.

I don't know if that works for other plants.

Its hard to tell but it looks like a fairly shaded spot. Our tomato patch gets just over the minimum sun thanks to mid day afternoon and evening sun but the house sits to the east in front of it.
How'd you prepare the soil? Wood mulch is not good because it depletes the ground of nitrogen. Its okay as a top dressing although I've never used it except around hedges and shrubs. If you used good soil amenders like sphagnum peat, composted cow manure home made compost or mushroom soil, you should have been okay. Too much fertilizer can also be bad. Same with too much watering.
Its not too late. I've heard of people planting tomatoes mid June and they really catch up. Get good plants and try again. But cut back on the watering to once a day every three or four days.

They look to have suffered root rot (fungus) from overwatering.

The starters were a bit crowded in the starter pots. I probably started them too early.

soil used was the miracle grow garden blend of top soil, peat, and manure, mixed in with my natural earth as the instructions dictate.

The black stuff is mulch for the 'walkways' to help retain moisture and prevent weeds. It was labeled as 'garden safe'.
