Would like some advise from fellow gardeners please...! I'm thinking of putting down some flowering ground covers on my garden bed to inhibit weeds and grass that will certainly take over my whole garden if I don't monitor it closely. I think the groundcovers will make the bed looks fuller too. I'm thinking of using creeping thyme, or creeping phlox (which looks beyoootiful right now!). But I'm not sure how they look when not flowering. Can anyone share your experience with either of these two? Or do you have other suggestions for flowering groundcovers that will look good year round?
I absolutely LOVE creeping phlox. Is it "ever-green-ish" sorta almost prickly?
if so... great plant!! i had it at my old house, and nothing grew under it. It stays green like that all year. Mine used to bloom twice, may-june then again in aug-sept. I had a whole carpet of it... the gal who bought my house, tore it all out. [needless to say, i was devastated]
I can't get it to grow well here, at my new home -- the voles chew it to bits over the winter.

I think that's the one. My neighbor has it in her front yard, currently blooming with flowers of pink & lavender hues. Simply georgeus!!
Phlox will multiply every year, and easily fill the available spaces. I put some in last year and they have doubled in size. They are beautiful, and provide a thick cover.
