I posted a thread about me planting pumkin seed for the first time. Out of 12 seeds i produced a total of 5 pumpkins but 1 rotted out (top left of first pic). 2 are still green & 2 are about ready to be harvested. I planted the seeds on 5/23/11 & took the pic on 9/16/11. Its been a intresting experience. I wish more had grown but oh well.
Its nice anyways. http://community-2.webtv.net/st914/Pumpkins (broken link)
If you really want to have some fun try growing some Atlantic Giants
First one is 98.7lb ,it got blossom rot so I picked it.
We cut it open and the rind is over 8" thick
The others are still growing and should be over 500lbs.
I used a one pound coffee can for scale.
It actually has been fun & to see a seed grow into a big fruit over time is quite cool. I dont plan to carve my pumpkins this oct. Ill be removing the 2 orange pumpkins from the vine next week after i have decorated my place up for halloween & taken a few pics. I stil have 2 green ones growing & in the pics you can at least see one of them to the right in the front. I may plant the giant ones next may. Where do i get the seed ? Its been fun watching a seed grow into a pumpkin. Im glad i did it after putting it off for 10 yrs. One of the pumpkins was for my sister but she died last month. All 4 pumpkins will stay inside my home & i did give my neighbor the pumpkin in back on the left side. Thanks for the replies.

We have on thats as big as a baseball and I hope it makes it to maturity even if it is small. We planted them late and now its vines have more or less taken over the front flower garden.
