OK, I looked out the kitchen window today and discovered that my mockorange bush -- strictly a spring-flowering shrub -- is in bloom. It's pretty much mid-September and I'm wondering what this bodes for the coming winter. At the same time there is not a single bud on my chrysanthemums, which ought to be on the point of blooming.

Our mums just started blooming a week ago, and the Meyer Lemon, due to come inside soon, is loaded with blossoms. For me the amazing number of seeds on the Japanese Maples have to mean something.
