Hi All!

I'll be moving out of my rental in a few months and am trying to figure out how to fix the backyard. I have a large yard and where my dogs ran and played it is now dirt. 3/4 of the yard is still fine with grass, but 1/4 is now dirt with holes (that they dug).

I plan on filling the holes with dirt, but should I hire someone to put down sod? OR do grass seed? My only thing with grass seed is that there would be no way to keep the dogs off of it while it's growing (which I believe would be important). I know nothing about landscaping, and just want to fix the yard to the way it was when I moved in. Now if I go with sod, is that expensive? and wouldn't it be "higher" than the grass that's already there? Thanks for any insight and advice

See if you can get some sod from HomeDepot/Lowes or any local landscape supply and do it yourself.

msjack,
3 weeks before you move out, call a local landscape company and order sod that they recomend for your area and have them deliver the pallets to your home.
Call family and any friends you can, and have them lay it down for you.
Buy a sprikler at Walmart, about 10.00 and water it twice a day for 3 weeks, you will be ready to move out by then.
WALK the dogs for the last 3 weeks. Don't let them run on the sod.
That way it will look real nice when your landlord inspects the property before you move out.
If you don't water the sod twice a day for at least 30 minutes each time, the sod will die.
Or, you could do nothing and see what the landlord charges you for the damage and let him have it done.

Water the lawn. Then in a hand held sprayer, add 1/4 cup of cheap dish liquid (no degresers in it, no bleach ones or fancy ones we have today) ones such as Octagon, the old Joy kind, then add 1/4 cup of regular Pepsi or Coke and a can of beer (really no joke)

mix it up and spray the lawn till pretty much soaked, water the lawn daily, add this mixture and spray about every 3 days.

Would I be spraying this on sod or grass seed? or just the dirt?
