I forced forsythia, willow and cherry blossoms last year. Now my flowering quince are full of flower buds. Besides the scary global-warming aspect, I can force them indoors to have blossoms for Chinese New Year.

I think it is the year of the black dragon. 2012's going to be a year of challenges for me, but I am happy my quince sprouted! I am posting a picture and hopefully anyone else who is "into" forcing indoors can as well.

BTW the Chinese New Year parade in San Francisco here in NorCal is amazing and the largest in the USA.

One of my friends recently tried to convince me to move. California is nice, but I enjoy the societal tensions, urban blight and horrific weather we have on the East coast.

I do love Asian food, though. Maybe I'll come see it one year. Nobody in MD that I know of serves those yummy new year cakes and buns.

That is nice. IF I still had my Ohio ***** Willows, I'd be picking some to force about now. Here in GA, the Camelias are in bloom and also the Carolina Jessamine.

Huh? Not quite sure what this has to do with forcing blooms indoors?

I'm glad you have been enjoying an ages old tradition of forcing blooms indoors but the connection to global warming is just weird.

It might not have been "bleeped" if you had written it as one word LOL
