Anyone know what this is, what causes it, and how to get rid of it? It is growing in my mulched areas. I thought someone had barfed when I first saw it. It is light orange in color. Thanks!

I have had it too. It's a type of slime mold. It'll go away on it's own in a week or so and is harmless.

Just looked it up under the images link Mike supplied. Thanks Mike! Hmm...interesting. Looks disgusting so I think I will dissolve it with the hose.

It's probably too late but using the hose will spread that fungus around for more to come back at a later date. Better to treat it like dog poop and shovel it up and toss in the garbage.
