Good Evening Everyone,

My wife and I recently purchased our first house (In September), so we're newbies to the lawn and garden scene. When we moved in, we noticed a section of our backyard had clover shaped leaves instead of grass. Being more focused with moving boxes in and getting unpacked, we didn't have much time to take care of the grass.

Now that spring is here, I wanted to get started with lawn care. We recently noticed, in the same spot where there were the clover shaped leaves, there are purple "flowers" growing with them. I believe that the weed is called Henbit but I am not sure. Can anyone help me identify what type of weed this is? Even further, does anyone have any advice on how to get rid of it?

I purchased Weed and Feed as well as weed killer but haven't had a chance to put down the weed and feed yet. I'm not sure how to approach this, I'm not even sure if I should put down weed and feed on that purple flower....any advice anyone could give would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know what it is....but it's a pretty weed. I like it better than the grass.

Not sure cause I can't see the picture real well, but it looks like ground ivy to me. If it is, you may have to make multiple treatments to control it. My experience is that liquid broadleaf weed control works better than weed n feed for this. Make sure you read and understand the label before using any kind of weed control.

Thanks. It is very beautiful but it's VERY invasive! I'll give the creeping charlie remedy a try.

Also known as ground ivy. It's pretty now, but it's everywhere!
