A friend has moved into a new house in Mass and I'm helping her to identify the different plants, shrubs and trees as they grow and come into bloom. This one has me stumped. Its about 4 ft tall and as you can see blooms prior to leafing out. Any ideas? Thanks!

That's "Witch Alder" or latin name: Fothergilla
