I'm not interested in planting annuals. I want to plant shrubs... I am not in a hurry. Still figuring out what I want... Everything I like requires full sun. Trying to find some that like part shade. Just realized today that the sun doesn't reach the area I want to plant in till around 1pm or so. Considering Blue baron rhododendron & Arctic rose azaleas.

KellyCrash, a great way to purchase locally-grown perennials and shrubs is to get a list of local garden-club plant sales. Garden Club members dig out plants to sell, as a fundraiser, and you are generally assured of buying healthy, hearty and locally-grown plants. Because they're already acclimated to the New England climate, they tend to be much healthier than stock grown down south and trucked up to us in the north Very reasonably priced, and you'll get lots of good advice about companion plants, type of soil (acidic, sweet, etc) and what can take some drought, what likes to have wet feet, etc.
