I let the seeds dry on a paper plate for days/weeks, then put them into a tiny zip lock back and stored in a cool dry room over winter. They did sprout and grow perfectly next season.
The frozen seeds didnt sprout. Read post #8.

I got my first one today. I was looking for a few ripe tomatoes and I see this thing, it is greenish white, and looks like an acorn squash, it is an acorn squash, excited, like a little kid, I picked it. Of course it isn't ripe, what a dumb thing to do, but at least, I know putting squash seeds in the freezer for the winter will produce new squash the following year. I guess we are never to old to learn.

I now have about 15 winter acorn squash in various stages of developing. A couple might actually be ready to pick in a couple of weeks. They are not very large, but who cares: I am just amazed at what a few seeds from a little acorn squash will produce. And to think we pay a buck a lb or more for the squash in the grocery store.

talk about not being a farmer, I said to hubby the other day, I wonder why our Crepe Myrtles are always the last in the neighborhood to bloom, his answer was, they are blooming aren't they? Nope, he thought Hydrangas (spelling) were crepe myrtles.
