A few months back I had my lawn guy install a big pot with a palm tree indoors. The location is close to windows but no direct sun. The palm was in need of more sun so it died. I recently spoke to a local nursery and they recommended a bamboo palm. I recall I used to have this palm in a previous property and it lasted me for many years. Now, The question I have is now that the pot I'm going to use is full of dirt, should I transplant the palm into this pot or remove all the dirt and keep the palm in the existing 14in container when it's standing? One person told me I should be fine leaving it where it is, and another person told me to transplant it. What to do what to do? Is there any pros/cons about leaving the plant where it is?
