If you're hoping to see a "bash-China" article, sorry to disappoint. I actually got tears in my eyes reading the following entry:
grounded design: China Sweeps American Landscape Architecture Awards

Although China appears to be going through a European-style concretization of the country, am I a creep for hoping they'll avoid many of the ecological mistakes of the "industrialized world?"

“There is a beauty in wild grasses,” says Yu. “We don’t see it because we have a twisted aesthetic, taking natural things to be lower class. We are addicted to city beautification: uprooting agricultural crops and trees on the land, building cities, and importing expensive and fruitless garden plants.” *sniff*

Just another reminder that we can not sit on our laurels. This year is China, next year maybe another developing country. But competition is good, promoting nature landscape that fits the environment is even better.

Congratulation to Professor Yu, the lead designer, that won this competition.
