I posted this in a Florida forum, but didn't get any responses. I'm hoping someone here can help me. This tree grows in my neighborhood in Hollywood, FL. I've been curious for awhile what it is. No one I ask IRL seems to know. Thanks!

Thanks for all the input. I'm going to have to go take another look at it. It seems like it has a different kind of trunk than the ones in the links. Anyway, it's a really interesting tree and if I had a yard, I would want one.

It may just be a different variety.

Screwpine,Screwpine plant,Screwpine leaves,Uses of screwpine,suppliers,exporters,India

Landscape Trees - Screw Pine

It would appear as though the fruit and leaves of some varieties (not all) may be edible when prepared properly.

Screw-pine leaf / Pandanus / Pandan Leaf

Screw Pine Leaves

(yea, I know, I'm still all about the edible landscaping )

My hometown is Hollywood, Florida. Grew up near 16th and Jefferson Street right by Jefferson Park. I went to Hollywood Central Elementary School. Was there just two months ago to visit friends and relatives.

Yes, it is a screw pine. My aunt on Hayes Street in Hollywood Hills had one in front of her house ... but it died.

I was expecting to read that the fruit is edible, not the leaves. Very interesting.

Sorry about your aunt's tree. They're very pretty. Hope you enjoyed your visit.
