Caterpillar ID Needed (leaf, eating, New Jersey, pictures)

This caterpillar was found in New Jersey on an oak leaf, which I believe it is eating.

I suspect it is a tent caterpillar but I'm not sure which one. Does any one know the exact type?

Tent caterpillars are generally hairy. Is it possible it could be in an early larval stage and thus not have hair yet?

Look up Yellow Striped Armyworm Moth. There are several color variations gray to brownish but all have those triangles on their back. See if you find a matching picture. The moth is ugly (great camo coloring though)
