This seems odd. From what I know, the flowers appear first, get pollinated, and then the pods start to grow but there are no flowers. My question is, if there are no flowers to pollinate, will there be any beans in the pod?
Will it even make a pod without being pollinated? Are you sure it didn't make flowers when you weren't looking? Lima beans will go for several years if you don't have a freeze to kill them off. I think they may be related to kudzu.
Ok I feel kind of dumb now. That pod was actually a flower. It just bloomed today
