OP, here is a photo list of red camellias, maybe you can match yours up to one of these.

Thanks so much for the help with the camellias I'll have a nice time using those as search terms to compare plants! I love the pink one especially, the pale green against the pink is just gorgeous.

I am fairly annoyed about the "holly." It was supposed to be fragrant tea olive... not so much

Not too sure about #2 being Euonymus... it doesn't change color at all during the year. It's grown pretty rangy, with single stalks just sprouting up everywhere, about 6' high. Definitely will be trimming it back, but I'd like to find a way to possibly propagate it so I can fill in some dead spots where it lines the border between houses.

Starry,
The second pic is a variegated privet.
I have one. It needs water in SC, but they are alright.
They are also evergreen, so they make a nice screen.

I think you're both right, Butterfly4U and Bulldogdag! Mine are not as bushy (to be fair, I haven't touched them in the four years I've lived here), but now I know I can be fairly merciless in hacking them down a bit I actually love the color of them, since a lot of my property is in light shade if not more, they brighten things up a bit, and kinda hide the neighbor's Jeep. Think I need to wait till summer to try propagating them to fill in gaps, though.
