Yeah, at the grocery store, located inside the chayote/mirliton. Just set the fruit on the counter until it sprouts, then bury the whole fruit with the sprout sticking out.
You're probably not going to find any seeds for sale since the seeds can't be dried. The whole fruit is typically planted. You should get at least 2 for pollination.
Mirliton? That's a new name for those squashes. I've heard them called "chayote" occasionally but folks around here call them "pipinola". They are extremely vigorous and productive!
As has been mentioned by EugeneOnegin, most folks start them from a sprouting fruit. Or just get a neighbor that has some, then there will be plenty for you, too!
