Can anyone suggest me a good and effective tool to take care of this weed issue, i have a electric trimmer, but it is not very powerful to cut those plants....the land is not flat and kind of a slope , i would like to clear all the plants/weeds so the area does not attract snakes! see picture attached. Don't want to spray chemicals (round up etc), plan to throw wild flower seeds and make it a nice flowering area instead of this ugly plants!

when you click the picture, it opens into a small window, if you click it again, you can zoom it to get a clear and big picture which give an good idea of how the place looks...

Looking for tool advice to take care of this tall weeds...-lawn.jpg

DR mower or similar. You can probably rent something like it locally.

Also many string trimmers will accept an attachment that has hard plastic blades instead of string to cut down large weeds and small brush.

A low tech option for the green folks: an old fashioned scythe. It can be a dangerous tool in the wrong hands though!

Here's an example of them in action and the types available.

Some nurseries and places that still have old fashioned hardware store and farm supplies sell them or you can go on line to places like these:

Would anyone think I'm crazy for saying I really like the look of those weeds at the wooded edge?

TIna,
SO do I. I think it looks nice. They are sort of pink.
Kind of wild grass.

I cannot see if you have rocks? However; do you have a rotary mower? Most push mowers will handle tall weeds. You just have to take your time – don't try to cut everything in one swath. The advantage of doing it with the rotary mower is that eventually it will turn into a lawn (of sorts). No; the grass will not be perfect (unless the weeds are killed, fertilized and reseeded).

If you do have rocks; you just have to walk the area and remove the rocks before you cut. It takes time; but I think you will like the final product (you will even be able to spot snakes).

I wouldn't say you are crazy..... and I am obviously outnumbered... and I didn't see ornamental grass either. Just plain old weed carcasses. Those twiggy things look exactly like ragweed and other similar perennial weeds do at the end of winter before the new green pops up. It's not pretty in real life at all and something I'd want to cut down and pull out if it was next to my garden. This is a slightly closer view of a similar "plant" from the University of Florida website showing various weed covered fields:

OP I think you need to do some research on Wildflower/Meadow Gardening. It isn't as easy as "throwing some seed out". At least not at the beginning. an established Wildflower Garden is beautiful and of course you have to let it go to seed to keep it going. This may or may not attract the snakes you are trying to avoid. Specialty blends of seeds for your area can be purchased on line as well as at a good local nursery.
