I am doing this too. I have collected cactus and succulents for 30 years. Some are monsters. Last week one fell on me and I had to go to my neighbors to pull thorns out of my back (couldn't drive to medical help with thorns in my back!). I'm done. I will keep a few sentimental favorites, but I am emotionally detaching.

I feel the same way about indoor plants as I do about clutter. I like one or two, but once they get overgrown or buggy, or whatever, out they go.

Ok I understand about wanting to de clutter---but to throw them away?? Don't you have a Free Cycle place or a friend or garden club who could use them? All I have to do is put the word out I have plants to divide and folks will come from miles around to get my extras. that is how i too got lots of my plants. Can't stand to throw anything away-especially sought after plant material. find a newbie who can't affoed plants and share---please.

abbara,
I know how you feel. When it gets too much to take care of
and you get disgusted with your watering chores, you have to
prune the herd.
If you are a true plant addict, you will see new plants soon and
now that you have less plants, you will buy new ones.
I don't like anything with thorns or painful things like cactus.
I have bled too much over the years.
It takes all the enjoyment out of it when you have too many.
Now I am into water plants, which I don't have to water......

Oh, by the way, no kudzu,
the OP is a Nurseryman's bread and butter. Relax.
LOL!
P.S. I agree with you, if I knew where she lived I would be
over at her house taking some.

That just means it's time for sprinklers, soaker hoses, and a drip irrigation system!
