Sorry to hear about your hospitalization. I do have that spray and used it last year on a wasp nest under my deck... ...worked like a charm. However, this time I used it on the yellow jackets but the liquid dripped and eventually dried out. The pest control guy blew some white powder around and up the hole in the frame. I don't know if he was able to blow it all the way up to the nest, but it did stick to the surface so yellow jackets kept getting it on their bodies.

Yea, that's the idea of the powder, it sticks to the bees and they carry it into the nest. When other bees come into contact with them, the powder is spread. Eventually all the bees should be dead.

Do you know what is the white powder that pest control companies use? Is that available in Home Depot/Lowes?

You could ask at the stores - just ask for the powder to kill bees. I'm not sure if that's something you can buy though, it varies from state to state. You may have to have a certified applicator do the job for you.
