Citrus peel and mothball will work in a flower bed but I doubt they would do much in lawn and would look pretty bad too. Who wants to gather up moth balls before they mow?
Motion detector might work but UPS man won't want to deliver.
OP. ... Mother cat takes care of waste from new born kittens so I'm not sure one cat would make the messes you are speaking about. And cats really like to cover their waste which can't usually be done in turf. Get those kittens ASAP either to take to the shelter or find homes for them or you will have many more kittens to deal with.
Could it be deer or coyote at night doing this damage? My lawn has burned areas from so many deer having picnics in my yard.
Cats don't generally "litter" in grass; they prefer to dig in dirt or sand and cover their waste. How do you know the cat is to blame? Have you seen it?
Some cats hate foil.......talk about a PITA in the garden though. In that case, blood meal, moth balls in a container with holes or red pepper flakes. If you want au natural, go for planting lavender and Coleus Canina (aka scaredy cat plant) - its leaves are beautifully colorful. Or, booby trap the area with spring loaded scare'ems........but be careful.....some of those felines learn to make a toy out of almost anything.
I was going to say the same thing: I have NEVER seen a cat peeing or pooping on grass. Yet the OP has a herd of them doing so. Can you post a video of all this activity?

I care for (TNR) stray/feral cats and they do indeed pee & poop on the grass. Not much choice, it's all overgrown and lush all summer! Not much in the way of dirt or sand. They find little clumps of dried grass left over from mowing. Mostly they go in the wooded lot, in dried leaves and undergrowth. But they also go on my front lawn.
In fact at this very moment through my window I am watching a young cat burying her poo in a swathe of dried grass along the edge of my street.

I don't find this funny, but I am sure you meant it as a joke. So I'm not going to get up on my high horse and admonish you about treating animals humanely, being cruel, etc. etc. I'm just not that tightly wound!!
Yes, cats do pee and poop in the grass. We had a neighbor with a cat that did that. Each time it went, I cleaned up the poop and filled the partial hole with human urine. It didn't use that spot again. Think that is gross? I knew someone that bought a house and the yard smelled like mothballs. It turns out that was only the surface of the problem. She had to practially give the house away by the time she moved because the cats continued. This town had no leash law and a lot of elderly people feeding stray cats, tons of cats. I tried 3 or 4 expensive products from the stores but none worked. The human urine works. Had a couple of cats decide they would poop around this house we moved in along the edges of the foundation. Human urine and no cat poop. Compared to cat poop, human urine is not gross. The effect lasts for longer than you think and then you just "treat" again!
We live in an apartment complex and have a number of cats here. I have seen these cats poop right on top of the lawn. They will paw at it like they would litter and just go, right on top of the grass, so I know that happens. We get snow during the winter here and if I don't cover up my large pots that I plant in, the cats will use them as litter boxes. I have to get cardboard and put rocks on it to keep the cats out.
