Much like the trees themselves.... Got tons of them here..rarely take pics of them though.
Nice picture. It brings back memories if my trip west a few years back. I loved spotting things, like mesquite, that I'd only seen in ID keys and pictures. Thanks for posting it.
Thanks! Mesquites tend to be multi - trunked and they are bad about lying down. Just could find any good pics with them rest on ground. Could have used this sooner in this thread....
The OP is in Alamogordo. In El Paso, just down the road--mesquites never get much more than shrubby lil things. I was shocked to see them looking like actual trees here in South Texas!

Thanks! Yeah I see plenty laying down around here. Got plenty good ones in the Mission grounds here. I 'll find some pics. Mountain Laurels do the multi-trunk thing as well but you don't catch them laying down on the job.
And you're right - around here, they are nowhere as large as the trees! I'm amazed at the difference!
