Don't you think the police should be able to?

The fact that they couldn't tell the difference is distressing but pulling up crop plants is inexcusable.

And wouldn't we all be breaking the law for having "debris" on our property if we are gardeners. Some of us call that debris a compost pile.

By scent alone I'd say tomato plants are at least as distinctive as marijuana plants, in other words a blind man should be able to tell one from the other.

I'd think the tomatoes would be a dead giveaway.

With all the crime in the Dallas area, you would think that the police have enough to keep them busy. But it's not often as fun as launching a full scale SWAT attack on tomato plants. Once they realized their mistake, they then had to look around and find something - anything - to charge the owner with. What was the reason for uprooting the blackberries and okra, anyway?

I'll guarantee the "tip" was from some older, nosy neighbor who didn't like the looks of the occupants and figured because they had long hair, they must be growing pot behind that bamboo. Ridiculous!

The police should have tried rolling a joint and smoking it. The dead giveaway would have been just a sore throat and no high - unless they were high already!

Maybe they thought they were just big red buds.

Being close to a National Park we get the black helicopters flying overhead a lot. Those people are supposed to be highly trained to see the difference between agricultural crops and weed. It does seem like there was a something else going on and more to this than is being reported. If you spot a follow up please post it NK.
