VERY Warm 1st half (Top 10). Very Wet as well. Normal Temps 2nd Half. Very Dry second half.. Muggness was back as Atlantic Ridge culprit. Some Late blight issues. No heat waves yet. No temps in the 100s. Tomatoes FINALLY started turning color end of July. Red ones on July 27th

Harvested over 20 cucumbers.. Only 2 Peppers & 3 Tomatoes. Lots of Beets, Kale, Over 200 Potatoes.

Peppers finally had growth spurt and grew on the plants.

With Selective Color on the Camera you're able to see Which leaves aren't Green and Which Tomatoes are turning colors



Gotta have a little color though. And after hours of weeding yesterday seems like the garden can breath more now. Debating whether I should feed my plants.



Warm weather made me not want to be outside so haven't pulled weeds in weeks. Cardboard breaking down too.

Beautiful, BEAUTIFUL garden you have there, Cambium! Seeing people's garden progress throughout the course of the season is so neat. We all have such different ways of achieving the same goal.

Thanks and Thanks. Everything is started from seeds just in case anyone was wondering. Not worth the $$ to buy everything at the stores.

A look at the 2 Beds August 2, 2014. I rotated the crops and added/subtracted a few. Ironically the way I did it made it look "thin". For example, I had Potatoes next to the corn in the far end here (good companion planting) but now that the Potatoes have been pulled it's empty in there.

Another thing is I put Beets and Onions in front of the Cucumbers to make sure the Cukes weren't shaded but looks empty in front of them.

So I spaced out all the tall crops this year.


Sucks for aesthetics but I guess good for them.

I also kept the path on the sides instead of having something near the fences...

August 5, 2014 Harvest.

All that worrying I wasn't going to get red ones. LOL Still weeks late and only 4 weeks left of season but nice to finally pick some.

The Cuor Di Bue seeds were imported directly from Southern Italy. I'm noticing the plant is not only looking unhealthy but the Tomatoes are deformed, tasteless and not true red.

I'm assuming it's not accustom to climate here. They're made for Southern Italy so maybe the temp fluctuation or humidity difference is not letting them form into a true red heart shape and taste good.

Nevertheless, bigger than a hardball.

The Campari's is a Tomato I found at the supermarket years ago... I loved the taste and size so I saved some seeds from it 2 years ago. Great yields from it.



There's also a Farmstand Hybrid in there I forgot to label.

Those are beautiful tomatoes, Cambium! Mine are just starting to ripen in earnest 80 days after transplant.. and some are "early" tomatoes - ha!! Oh well, should be swimmin' in 'em soon!

First year planting Okra. Never knew they flower like this.



Further back view. 1 row of Okra. Front ones planted direct. Back ones started indoors. Notice the back ones are much taller and further into the growth stage. Gotta start indoors around here to make most of the short growing season




Black Sweet Bell Pepper in Pot




You can tell its getting towards end of season when they start to look raggly. lol . I will prune the yellows and clean them up soon

Cambium, love the additional photos! That black pepper is gorgeous ... I have never had a black one ... do they taste different from green/yellow/red/orange (the only kinds my grocery store carries)?

Love roma tomatoes despite their relatively small size -- they tend to be firmer than other tomatoes I buy. Were the campari tomatoes supposed to be that small?

Thanks! The Campari are usually little bigger than cherry but much smaller than a regular tomato and they grow together on one vine. Good yields and taste.

Black Pepper tastes different but as usual I don't really notice taste difference. Same with different hot peppers. lol

Since I wont be getting enough yields for my Jars of sauce I will go out and buy bulk Tomatoes. Such a waste to do but I realize it's better to do 20 jars at once instead of 1 or 2 at a time.
