Hopefully the unseasonably warm weather ,limited rains won't decimate the remaining avacado, citrus groves in places like California's Inland Empire. Was recently looking at Grove parcels online in IE, sad to see so many stumped trees.

OUCH! What a difference this yr vs last

Percent of corn planted by now only 22% in Indiana vs 92% last yr!! WOW

Source:

Percent of Soybeans. Ouch! 6% in South Dakota vs 56% last yr by now.

Here's another look at the corn planting in the U.S

U.S. corn rose only 9 points from last week to 58 percent planted as of May 26. Current pace remains the slowest on record.

Not affected by the winters in several years. this year is very different though in AR. With the rain and flooding the past month the soy crop is about shot.

Same goes for my family's farm in southern Ohio. Temps aren't affecting it, just the constant rains and flooding. He plants mostly corn and soybeans. The corn hasn't even been planted yet. The soybeans have but are struggling. He gave up on planting tomatoes this year as the wetness will no doubt lead to blight. Raccoon Creek flooded one field that still hasn't drained off so looks like that field will remain fallow this year unless my girls (who graduate college next month) decide to plant flowers there. They have an interest in starting a floriculture business. The only crops doing well so far are the winter wheat and hay.

Went to our small farmers market last Sat for baby carrots and beets. They said the carrots rotted before they were ready to pick. They didn't have any beets either, but Sunday we went to a larger market. even they had a very small selection or carrots and beets. The beets were $5 for 5 and the baby carrots, $5 for about 6 or 8. I did get turnips at the first market for a really good price. It looks like they were not affected as much.
