This is my first year growing veggies and herbs. I am using grow boxes like this: Garden Patch GrowBox so I am absolutely certain of where each seeds were planted. There is a "nutrient patch" that covers the top layer of soil and there are little numbered holes cut out for where you plant the seeds. Now that my veggies and herbs are coming up I swear some of them are coming up inches away from where I planted the seeds. Like they migrated under the soil and picked their own little spot to grow. Is that possible or does it mean that something else is coming up and it's not my herbs and veggies I'm seeing in those spots? (Some things are growing right where I know I planted them and others have moved themselves 2 or 3 inches from where I planted.)

Wow. I've never seen this contraption before. It appears to beak down the "scary" steps for the novice gardener while building up their experience planting each year. Pretty cool.

The instructions show the novice gardener transplanting new seedlings. They don't show a direct seed into the box. What I'm presuming is... you planted the seeds somewhere between 1/4-1/2" deep in the suggested potting mix. Yes? If so, the seeds could move if the box was jostled or if the top paper disturbed the surface.

So, if you want to know "exactly" where your seeds are on planting, start off with some seeds in a Jiffy-7 set up. The seed goes right in the middle of the Jiffy-7 depression. Can't wander! Then transplant the seedlings into your Garden Box!

Jiffy-7®

Good luck!

The seeds could have migrated when watering....perhaps?
Let it grow and see what comes up.
Maybe a bird dropped something in that spot...

Yes, that's what I did. And I'm sure the box could have been jostled at some point plus the cover has been moved around a bit. You're smart!

Another good thought! We had a lot of hard rain. Maybe that moved the seeds around a bit under the soil?

You gardener people are seriously with it. Maybe growing stuff will make me smart too.

It's a pretty sweet set-up--the inventors have broken most of the steps. They might have overlooked instructions for direct sowing.

Or else you have a plant-poltergeist!!
