up here at 6,000' altitude in a much cooler climate, our cilantro grows like a weed for 6 months of the year in our greenhouse. Zone 4-5, more favorable climate for this plant than Zone 8-9a Houston.

PS: We either dry or freeze a lot of this every year. It keeps very well and works great for all our soups/stews.

Planting it this way ensures that you'll have young plants for a long while. When the old plants are too far gone to use, yank them and replace them with more seeds.
Thanks. I have them growing in the top of a strawberry jar with the slots for other plants. It's on the porch. I've been adding a few seeds when others didn't sprout. It's got spinich growing out the side which I use as an herb with a lot of dishes.

I'll add a few seeds and leave them out of the sun but in light and see how they do. I may try drying it too.

I had no idea it prefers cooler weather. I always associated it with SE Asian, Indian, and Mexican food. Interesting.

Every time I plant cilantro, the squirrels eat it before I get to harvest.

You may be able to grow it in pots indoors but given the price in Texas it will be a labor of love.

Let it bolt and seed. The seeds mKe a great addition to home made breads.

Cilantro is the seed of demons, therefore, difficult to grow. So don't bother. It must be stopped.

I grow cilantro indoors during the winter months and outdoors during the summer. Indeed, it is quick to go to seed so I just restart seeds before I am out of one of my favorite herbs.
