My husband and I will be making a quick trip to Florida to see some friends. We will have out small motorhome. We will be on the road one day.

I plan to pick some squash, tomatoes, cukes, and beans the morning before we leave. We will get to our friend's house the next night. So it will be about 36 hours from when the veggies are picked.

How is the best way to travel with them. Leave out of fridge? Wash or don't wash? Wrap?

Thanks…I really want them to enjoy since they don't have a garden anymore

There are no agricultural inspection stations to cross?

The tomatoes in a single layer in a box, leave them out. I would wait to wash when I got there.

Beans, cukes, squash, put them into a cooler, put a towel over them, put some blue ice on top of the towel. You want them kept cool, not cold.

Lettuce, wrap in a damp cotton terry towel and keep it cool.

Florida only has a problem with fresh fruits and berries. I am not bringing those

Thanks for the tips.

You're a better friend than I am... and so concerned with its care!

I'm like a dragon guarding my tomatoes!
