Hello, I'm new at gardening. I have three jalapeno plants in a large container. They seem to be doing really well. However, on one plant the soil turned white and then yellowish tan. It seemed to happen within a 2 day span. The other 2 have normal soil color. Any idea why this would happen? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Could be fertilizer or salts coming to the top. Watering from top or bottom?

Sounds like fungus due to too wet of soil, which also can bring salts to the surface.

I can't help you, but I have a new bed of perennials in which about 8 plants were planted. Some did well and some didn't, but I had a plant turn tan and die when the same plant, a few feet away was fine. I am stumped too.
