Hey Cam - do you start your cucurbits indoors and then transplant or do you direct sow? I've done both and find that my plants end up doing fine either way, but seem to be stronger and more resilient to harm when directly sown. They quickly catch up to the transplants which always seem to sit in a state of paralysis for a week or two before really doing much of anything..
Also, this is my first time ever starting eggplant and they have been a real pain for me (I think only 8 out of 20 or so germinated). Do you find that they're usually finnicky? My jalapenos germinated 100%, as did most sweet peppers, but my other hots have been a bit more tedious. Glad I over-seeded everything!

Yeah, I noticed Eggplants like it very warm to germinate like the peppers do. Then are picky outside too with sunlight and warmth and water. not as delicate as Cucumbers are transplanting but picky on the conditions. I had some good yields but last year not so much. And it was a cool summer here.

Transplanted a few peppers from the cell trays to cups. A tad early but wanted to make room since half the tray didn't germinate from 2 weeks ago.
Couple tomatoes in there too.
I feel the same way. My dining room table is covered with seedlings. I'm dying for all this stinking snow to melt so I can go play in the dirt.
Not sure where you live so cant comment on when that might be. But hopefully you can play in the dirt soon. My snow is all gone and all I have are piles left which is rare itself to see with a strong sun angle and in April here.
I transferred some peppers and tomatoes the other day. Next move wil be in the ground in 6 weeks. Soil Temp is still in the 30s.
What soil are you using and whats the setup? Hows the room temp?
If you get a regular fluorescent fixture and have the light just inches away that makes all the difference in the world. I have family members still wondering why their plants become leggy on their window sills.
My tomatoes are ready for the main garden, but the over night temperature tomorrow night is in the 30's, so I'm targeting for next weekend. Hope that works because I'm running out of room!
