There is a lip on the battery where the clip engages. The problem is the whole plastic housing of the mower flexes a bit after putting in the battery. What I ended up doing was adding a thick layer of tape where that lip is. Its a little firmer pushing the battery in before the clip on the mower engages, but it hasn't come loose yet.

I have a problem with my Kobalt 40v shutting off after a few seconds. Tried to the battery fix and it doesn't seem to be the problem. Is there any other possibilities for this problem?

After killing two, I'd no longer recommend these. So much plastic in the landfill, that I feel guilty. They are not worth it since the mowers do not seem to be built to last, repairs are expensive and the batteries don't seem to last, either. At least on the brand I bought.

My new gas mower is way better and easy to start. They have really improved them since I was little. Plus no chemical filled batteries to dispose of and it seems to be way better made.
