Why doesn't roundup work on dandelions?? (peach, animals, dogs, seed)

I can't believe people have so much trouble with dandelions. It seems like any type of broadleaf weedkiller spray that I have used as killed dandelions in a day or two. Now if someone has a solution to crabgrass or this weed that has been driving me crazy for the past few years. It grows thoughout the winter and is currenly blooming in Western PA with little white flowers. It seems to really like mulch and flower beds, but is also in my grass.
I normally have to wait 1.5 weeks before anything happens to stuff I spray with roundup. 2,4-d is usually a little more satisfying because I can see the plants get curly within a day or two.

Did you ever consider letting the dandys be? They are a great early-spring food source for bumblebees.
Also, if you have *a lot* of dandelions, you lawn may have an underlying problem that favors weeds over grass. It may be that if you addressed these issues you would have fewer dandelions and would not be so worried by their presence.
Checking this topic out. Yesterday I noticed a tiny sea of golden dandelions where they were not in previous years. I do recall more chewed leaves in previous years. Perhaps whatever animal ate them is grazing elsewhere this year. But I considered leaving them because they looked so beautiful and bright. People have a great fear of them it seems. I know the flower will blow all over and now it's in a large mulched area...so I wouldn't mind that but don't think I want it in the grass.
I know my neighbor who was irate about the flowering chives in my mulch bed will probably not like to see the dandelions when he gets back to town.
I wonder if I could just clip the flower and stem before it gets airborn?
Why would anyone want to kill dandelions? They're so pretty, and so good in a salad.
My husband has a thing about dandelions. A few are okay, but he takes it personally when they start taking over the lawn. In the pastures, the animals keep them down, but unfortunately the house has a four acre lawn area around it, and he doesn't want it to look too scruffy.
Hmmmmm ..... maybe a few geese would work, and they're very picturesque. You could let them feed all summer, then feed on them in the fall.
Yeah....however, geese leave significant things behind! You know the phrase "like s*** through a goose"? It's true. And then if you have dogs, they think it's a great snack. However, the bacteria can make the dogs sick.
I hate geese. I get big Canadian honkers who think they can camp out on my yard every spring. My BB gun gets a good workout....
Geese are also mean.
