Best lawn insect control with pets (grass, cat, insects, yard)

We recently moved into a home with a yard that was sod about a month ago, and we are looking to try and stay ahead of any insect invasion by treating the yard. Problem is we have a dog and a cat that love to eat grass, so I am apprehensive about using insecticides on the lawn, even though most brands say they are safe for pets. Any recommendations?

Organicide.
Takes care of fleas too. You can buy at Home Depot.
Read instructions for lawn care on back.
Also, great for plants, safe to use inside.

permethrin is also very safe and works for fleas and ticks. it also kills some beneficial insects, however.
