I think it's been about two weeks now aside from one night during which it "rained" to give the pavement a mottled (?) appearance. It's been forecast several times incl. chance of t-storms but nothing materialized. Yet other parts of North America are being inundated. Added to this we had frost warnings twice in the last 10-or-so days. After such a brutal winter it seemed as though we were going to have a pretty "normal" spring. Guess not. Summer is supposed to be hotter than usual.

Basically Nobody alive today experienced a May this dry in many locations.
Concord only 0.10" so far, 112 yrs of records.
Even NYC only 1903 was drier.
Still 5 days left and 1 thunderstorm can ruin the stats but most likely end up in Top 10 driest at least
Ugh, yes! I'm in Westford, MA (north and east of Worcester on the nice, but depressing, graphic above) and we have had next to NO rain since all that snow melted. They keep saying it will rain, but it never does...a handful of drops for 10 minutes at best . It's very frustrating. We MIGHT get some rain tomorrow, or early next week, I HOPE so, but I'll believe it when I see it.
While I like my unflooded basement, I do not like being unable to plan much of anything in the yard. We're on too much land to effectively irrigate at reasonable cost, so all kinds of plans are getting messed up. And the constant threat of brush fires is scary.
I'm guessing all the rain that was supposed to fall ended up in the south. This has been the wettest spring for many in a long time.
Central U.S had one of the wettest Mays on record. Texas came out of their severe drought and got severely flooded. Oklahoma, Kansas also very wet May.
Pretty dry in Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. The whole Eastern U.S was stuck under a ridge which = dry like what California had for months.
I'm in north central TX. If I could give you rain, I would in a heartbeat. It has rained about 25 days in the past month and nothing has time to dry out. The mosquitos are becoming the size of birds...ok, maybe not birds but it sure feels that way. I have seen the sun, fleetingly, three times in the past month. Seriously.

Crazy. We've had precipitation in Denver every day in May except for 2 days. Even some rain in SoCal. Sounds like everything is tracking across the southern US?
Dry as a bone here and it's the driest since the late 1800s. We've got a watering ban now too. Last night (when our side of the street was allowed to water) I filled up the big watering can so I can at least water a few flowers and my emerging beets.
I cannot stand mowing our grass - too dusty. My little town is insulated by our hills from much of the rain that my area gets. We did have about an hour of a good downpour this afternoon - but we need much more. I have a very small pond (about 20 feet in diameter and about five feet deep) that is now dry. It would take between four to six inches of rain to fill the pond - from past experience. The other day I took my long, iron, digging bar and made a hole about a foot deep in the ground that was like concrete - there was no moisture.
All I know is that this is a bad start for the summer season. If we do not get rain before we could have problems with wells going dry later in the summer/fall.
Ontario, Canada. Some parts of the province apparently got rain, but we didn't. We were under a severe thunderstorm watch in the afternoon but nothing materialized, despite total cloud cover. Last night it was supposed to rain, but we got nothing. Now they say Saturday, but only 5 to 10 mm, but after that nothing for at least a week.

. It's very frustrating. We MIGHT get some rain tomorrow, or early next week, I HOPE so, but I'll believe it when I see it.
