"Winter exercise"

Chasing squirrels from the bird feeder. I twisted an ankle last year.

Buy a squirrel feeder for them and they will stay out of the bird feeder.
I like this feeder myself....

Wartrace, I don't know where in the world you found that picture of my ex-mother-in-law! lol

My dad's squirrel proof is a 4 x 4 in the ground with 2 sheets of tin wrapped around them. Wrap the bottom sheet first then overlap it with the top one. This way, the squirrels can't jump up and get their claws on the top of the bottom sheet of tin. He then drilled a hole near the top of the 4 x 4 and glued a PVC pipe in it then glued a bolt on the end of the pipe so he could hang the feeder on the PVC and it wouldn't slide off the end.

Now if we could only get the birds to quit knocking the food to the ground so the squirrels still get to eat it! lol

Dont know the name of it but theres a feeder that when a squirrel gets to it the ring around the feeder spins and tips making squirrel drop off. Look for it in your bigger hardware stores like Ace hardware.

I think those are the Yankee flippers and I think there is also one called the Dipper. They are expensive but work well. There is also a cheaper brand called the squirrel buster I bought one of these at Ace and it has worked well.

This one works great. Just be sure it's hanging well away from anything they can stand on to reach over into the seed without getting on the feeder.thy will try to crawl on the top and get to the seed, but once they touch the little bar, it closes right up. There's a lever to set the "sensitivity" of the weight bar.

I finally gave in to the reality that I couldn't get rid of squirrels. Mainly, I didn't want them destroying my feeders by chewing on them. Finally got a platform feeder made out of some nearly indestructible material (the Woodlink Going Green Platform Bird Feeder). The squirrels feed on the platform mainly in the morning and late afternoon. The rest of the time, it's the birds eating.
