My mom planted her garden from seed this year. Everything is growing well and looks great. She had planted what she thought (and the packing said) were cleome seeds but they were mislabeled. I've been through pages and pages of pictures and can't seem to identify these flowers. They have bloomed in the last few days and are beautiful blue and white flowers. Any ideas?

I apologize in advance if the pictures are large, I don't know how to resize files on this computer.

Some variety of Dianthus maybe? It's really pretty whatever it is!

I will take your word for it. My eyes are not what they used to be. I can not see any difference between them. But, will admit my eyes are no longer young.

Not to worry. I love portulaca and seeing that picture was a nice serendipity moment.

It looks like some sort of Cosmos. I love Cosmos flowers as they are so colorful and come in all sorts of different shapes and colors. I had a huge Cosmos garden a few years back. These are also drought resistant flowers.

Bingo! It sure is! I was fooled by it's green leafy part looking like the cosmos green leafy part.
