I received a bunch of these lemons a couple months ago and they make some goooood lemonade. I've always wanted to grow a fruit tree but if something gets taller than me I get intimidated.
Meyer lemons are a bush, although old ones may get as tall as a person.
In your climate? With all that sun? Growing one is a no-brainer! I'm in overcast Seattle, and mine has about 5 lemons on it right now. It's just over 2 feet tall.
- Where did you buy your Meyer lemon plant from? I bought mine at a local plant store. It is the dwarf variety, which does well indoors, and I think it was about 1.5 ft tall when I bought it.
- How was your experience with the plant... I mean does it live long? I've had mine for 3 years and it looks amazing. It is currently soaking up the sun on the eastern/southern side of my house in the midatlantic. It's grown to about 4 ft tall, but you can also prune it to keep it shorter.
- Also since I am in midwest, am worried about the winter snowy weather for it. Can it survive indoors during winter Yes, it does ok, but it needs air circulation and you should place it in a sunny spot. It will likely go dormant and lose most of its leaves, but it should perk up again in the spring. Mine looked terrible last winter and hardly had any leaves, but it has become a bushy, lush tree -- gorgeous.
Yayyyyy... I finally got a Meyer Lemon plant from one of the nurseries and they had just 3 left. It's a small plant which has 1 big lemon and and 4 tiny lemons. All of them are green still. They told me, since plant is in it's 1st year, the lemons might drop off. Also that I can keep it in same pot for an year and should move to a bigger pot next year. I also got an Orange plant (Calamondin type) from there. Attaching pics of both.
Lovely! Remember that they like humidity, so keep the pots on a tray of rocks w/ some water in it, or simply mist lightly from time to time with water. You should also fertilize as needed. Good luck!

Yeah I have to learn more about fertilizing my plants. I have a lot of plants now. Also on how to save them from mites and other plant insects. Thanks Novada!
