Hello,

I am considering starting a small-time garlic garden for my family and perhaps for sale locally at farmers' markets and on the roadside. What do people usually pay per pound for locally-grown, gourmet garlic? What have you seen before? Just looking to see how common this is. Might be nice to get some side-income but since I haven't done this before I thought I'd ask

thanks

This very much depends on where you are.

If you plan to sell locally, maybe you should visit some local farm stands and farm markets and see what it's going for??

Here on the west coast, I'd expect to pay around $6/pound for local organically grown garlic. That price is not necessarily relevant to NH.

I don't think I've ever seen garlic priced by the pound. It's always priced by the head.

In my area, the Korean supermarket sells garlic for $1.99/lb or $1.29/5 heads.

I pick up Central Valley California grown garlic locally for about $1.5lb this time of year.

If you sell by the pound, you are required by law to use a certified scale, which is not a cheap tool.
