I had one years ago in my California yard. Tried it here. Have the perfect place for it. Problem here is the wasps come to the water some do not make it out. I just do not feel comfortable climbing into a tub of wasp water. BUT I LOVED the tub in CA. I used it all the time. filled it int he morning and it was nice and warm at night.
I am mentally working on an out door shower. The water here runs about 85 degrees in the summer. I could easily do a nice cool down rinse off shower in the evening in that. Too late this year. I do have the perfect place right out the back door which also happens to be in our master bath. Perfect. HA I can shower and watch the cars and trucks go down the highway but they no longer can see into my private patio. I already have nice solar lights instead of candles.
No, the one I saw was a regular clawfoot bath set in amongst beautiful greenery and statutes.
I hadn't even thought about the cleaning problem!
Down where I live, rain in summer is pretty much impossible, so it just wont get that dirty during summer at least.
I imagine emptying the water every time you use it so no wasps can drown.
I love the idea of a shower outdoors too.
Many Australians have their house then an entire different set of living quarters outdoors. We have outdoor kitchens, loungerooms, you name it - because the climate is perfect.
We actually get around 8 months of summer a year and even winters aren't very cold so many folk just light a fire during winter in their outdoor loungerooms. Braziers are popular.

I would love to be able to have so much out door living space and time. I also love winter and deep snow. Hard to have both. I do have a little three burner gas stove on the front veranda=porch. I use it mostly in emergency for power outage. I used to use it as a canning stove outside at our last house but our porch is too hot here.
I think a claw foot tub, which is what I had years ago, would be wonderful to have again. the sun will turn the water green. Some copper pennies in it will help slow that down. I used to drain and refill my tub every couple of days so I did not have to worry about the water turning green. Believe me it will get dirty even if you just get in to to cool down. There is some thing very special about bsthing or showering in the open air under the stars.
